3 Dunkin Donuts Stores Coming to Mankato

MANKATO — Dunkin’ Donuts will open three stores in Mankato, the company announced Thursday.

The baked goods and coffee company plans to open its first Mankato store in 2017. Dunkin’ Donuts, which had been searching for a Mankato store operator since 2014, signed a multi-unit store agreement with franchisees Oliver Schugel and David Schooff.

The franchisees have more than 45 years of combined experience in business and real estate, the company announced. Schooff was part of a team that developed the former T.J. Finnegan’s restaurant into Red Sky Lounge.

In a press release, Schooff said he was looking forward to opening the restaurants in the years to come.

“We are thrilled to expand the brand’s presence in Mankato,” Schooff said in a statement. “We have a passion and loyalty for the Dunkin’ Donuts brand and look forward to opening our restaurants in the years to come.”

Last year Dunkin’ Donuts found franchisees in St. Cloud and the Twin Cities who will open a total of 24 stores, beginning next year.

Dunkin’ Donuts had been in Minnesota and in Mankato in the past, but the company hadn’t had a presence in the state in nearly a decade.

Dunkin’ Donuts has 11,800 stores around the world and has been venturing into more food offerings, including sandwiches and wraps.
