Dunkin Donuts First Location Announced

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MANKATO — The first of three planned sites for new Dunkin’ Donuts stores has been unveiled.

The first store is to be built on the corner of Star Street and Madison Avenue in the parking lot of the strip mall that houses Slumberland, directly across Madison from Grizzly’s.

The proposal is to construct a new 54-by-35-foot building in the northwest corner of the site. The Dunkin Donuts building will have a drive-thru on the perimeter of the building.

The plan is being reviewed by the city.

This spring, Dunkin’ Donuts, which had been searching for a Mankato store operator since 2014, signed a multi-unit store agreement with franchisees Oliver Schugel and David Schooff. They said they planned to have at least one store open in 2017.

Last year Dunkin’ Donuts found franchisees in St. Cloud and the Twin Cities who will open a total of 24 stores, beginning next year.

Dunkin’ Donuts had been in Minnesota and in Mankato in the past, but the company hadn’t had a presence in the state in nearly a decade.
